Welcome to the Dementia Resources Library

You can search the catalogue for items using the Search bar above. You can use general or specific terms in your search. For example, if you type in 'Animals' any resource relating to Animals will be displayed including books, CDs, DVDs, Kits, videos, and games.

To generally browse the catalogue, click on Lists above and select a category, e.g. Kits, Books, DVDs. This will display all items in that category. You can select 'View all' to browse the entire catalogue.

For a more detailed catalogue search click on Advanced search. Here you can search by icons and search for resources by dates and language.

It’s simple to borrow:

  1. Click Add to cart for each item you would like to borrow.
  2. When you are ready to borrow go to the Cart, select the items you would like, or Select all.  Click Place hold. 
  3. You will be prompted to Log-in.  You may be asked to confirm Place hold if some items aren’t available.

That’s all you need to do. 

You will be notified by email when your items will be available for collection from Realm.

Best parking is from Ringwood Street - entry 5 West.  Proceed up two ramps.  Find Realm a short walk diagnonally across Town Square.

The DRL collection provides access to resources to enable enjoyable activities, hobbies and meaningful pastimes for people who are living with a dementia. Resources are informative, culturally appropriate as well as stimulating, relaxing, comforting and entertaining. Members can have access to games, movies, books, photographs and musical items, as well as publications about dementia.

The collection was developed by the Brotherhood of St. Laurence to provide cost effective, exchangeable resources to enhance the lives of people living with a dementia. Eastern Regional Libraries and the Brotherhood of St. Laurence are delighted to be in partnership to bring this resource to you.

Borrowing information

Steps to joining:

  • Join ERL (free)
  • Join the DRL and pay annual membership fee*

    Fees are used to improve, expand and maintain the collection and protect the collection for use with eligible patrons. Memberships are for one year and renewed on the anniversary of membership. Once a member you will be issued with how to borrow instructions and user login details.

    *Annual membership fees:

  • Organisations (e.g. Residential Care Facilities; Day Programmes): $110 each annually.
  • Individuals: $30 annually.

    Eligible patrons:

  • Persons who are living with a dementia.
  • Individuals who are supporting a person living with dementia.
  • Organisations that support people living with dementia.
