A four part interview with Anne Unkenstein, a clinical neurologist specialising in memory loss. In part one, Anne uses a simple model of memory to explain how we remember. She also differentiates between memory problems associated with dementia and those that occur through normal ageing. In part two, Anne explains Alzheimer's Disease and dementia. She also details some of the common early signs of dementia. In part three, Anne explains that a person with a diagnosis of dementia can successfully use a crutch or support for their memory. From her vast experience in this area, Anne outlines some of the effective memory strategies that have worked for her clients. In part four, Anne explains the different reactions to a diagnosis of dementia from people with dementia and their families and the changes these people have coped with throughout the course of the illness.
